Title: Wish You Were Here II

Materials: Canvas (16" x 20") & Oils

How I wish,
How I wish you were here.
We’re just two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl,
Year after year.
Running over the same old ground,
What have we found?
The same old fears.
Wish you were here.

-Pink Floyd
-Wish You Were Here

Another painting inspired by Pink Floyd’s “Wish You Were Here”.

When I listen to that song I’m always reminded of all the people I used to like who I’ve lost touch with, and I start wondering what’s happened to them and where they are now.

It’s very easy for me to loose touch with people.  I’m a very quiet, private person, and very easily discouraged when I think people don’t want to hear from me.  Unless someone makes an effort to stay part of my life I’ll rarely make an effort to stay part of theirs.  This ‘drawing apart’ is helped by the feeling I often have that I don’t have much in common with the people I meet, and the feelings I get that I’m somehow not really ‘connected’ to the things going on around me the way other people seem to be.

So that song has always had a special meaning to me as I sit in my fishbowl and watch the people around me come and go.

If anyone I used to know is reading this: I do wish you were here.
